Types of Visa
- For European Economic Area countries (EEA), European Union (EU) countries student no need a visa to France. Even though these country students required medical insurance and sufficient financial resources to meet your needs. And these students can work while studying without a residency permit (Maximum of 964 hours in a year)
- The short-stay student visa:
Short stay for studies (court séjour pour études): Taking a short training programme, doing an internship, working after obtaining a temporary work permit are valid reasons for being granted a short-stay visa (Schengen)
- It authorises one or more successive stays that must not exceed 90 days total over a maximum period of 180 days
- Short stay for studies visa is renewable
- The student in a competition" (étudiant concours): It allows you to come to France to sit an exam or an admission interview in an institute of higher education.
- It is for 3 months only
- Once you get admission or further purpose to stay back to France you must apply Temporary resident permit or other category or else you need to return to the home country.
Note: Some of the Non-European country nationals are not required to have a visa to stay a short time (90 days) for more details please do contact us. - The long-stay student visa: For student long-stay visa to study, conduct research or do an internship in France for more than 3 months.
- The Long-Term Visa used as Residence Permit (VLS-TS):
- The student VLS-TS: Bachelor's and Master's level
- For 4 months to 12 months (once you finish your visa in this category you need to extend to remain in France or you need to return home country)
- This visa category is for higher education
- In this category, students are able to travel in the ‘Schengen Area’
- International students are able to work 964 hours per year or 20 hours per week
- Multi-Entry VLS-TS "ETUDIANT’: This visa category students are able to enter as many times as you want to France other than Schengen countries. Example: your home country (Limitations are within the visa duration period)
- The Talent passport VLS-TS : Doctorate and beyond
- For students who want to come in this category (Researcher-Talent Passport-VLS-TS) under 12 months, they need to validate their visa within 3 months of their arrival in ‘OFII -French Office of Immigration and Integration’
- For the student who wants to come in this category for more than 12 months will get first 3 months visa and they need to apply within 3 months of arrival in OFII -French Office of Immigration and Integration for ‘Multi-year Researcher-Talent Passport’, and it will extend a maximum of 4 years
- First 3 months you can travel to Schengen Area, if you want behind this period you are able to get the first Resident permit and after you can travel.
- You can freely work in France without the prior consent in this category
Note: The spouse of a Doctoral student or Researcher who holds a ‘Family Talent Passport’ Long Stay visa may also work in France.
- The internship VLS-TS:
To do an internship in France as part of the programme you are enrolled in your country of residence. The long-stay internship visa, or internship VLS-TS, allows you to do an internship in France for more than four months. When it expires, you can request a temporary internship residency permit.
- The Temporary Long-Term Visa (VLS-T):
With the VLS-T, you can stay in France for 1 year, and you don’t need to validate it at your arrival. It cannot be renewed, and it doesn’t grant the rights than the VLS-TS.
- Student are allowed to stay four months to twelve months to pursue graduate studies and it is not renewable
- Can travel freely in all countries of the Schengen area
- Student are not allowed to work - Student spouses and children may be permitted to reside in France while you study in France but this is conditional. These conditions include having enough and appropriate financing and accommodation for the rest of the family. Family visas are decided on an individual merit.,
Documents Required for Student Admission
- A copy of your passport (s)/Birth certificate/National identity card
- Academic documents(credentials)till date (required in translation) (a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or equivalent)
- Work Experience (if any)
- A copy of your European health card (for EU students)
- Resume /A cover letter/SoP (Statement of Purpose)
- A civil liability certificate (if required)
- Language proficiency for French is DELF, DALF, TCF, Le TEF and CNOUS-CROUS
- Language proficiency for English: TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS (every university is varying in requirements in English proficiency, there is no standard benchmark to entry into France)

- Offer letter/Unconditional offer letter/Academic registration letter from the University
- Proof of Language proficiency
