Types of Visa
  • All non-EEA student required a visa to study in Germany
  • Language Course Visa (Visa for Language Learning) – for educational activities lasting from 3 months up to 1 year, for the purpose of participating in short German language courses.
  • A German language course visa is the type of educational visa issued for foreigners intending to complete an intensive language course lasting 3-12 months. The courses the visa applicants are expecting to complete shall a contain minimum of 18 hours of lessons each week.
  • In this category, students are not allowed to convert into another category visa
  • Students are not allowed to work
  • Student Applicant Visa (Visum Zur Studienbewerbung) – if you want to study in Germany, but are still trying to find the right program or you still haven’t got the confirmation letter from your University
  • Allows students to enter Germany for up to three months (six months with an extension) to take part in university admissions processes. You can use this visa to apply for a full Student Visa.
  • Full-time university studies or Preparatory German language courses for studies
  • In this category, applicants can switch into a student visa – as soon as having been admitted to study into university/institutions.
  • Student Visa (Visum Zu Studienzwecken) – if you have already been accepted to a German university.
  • For international students, this category who have gained admission into German university or equally recognized institution/university of applied sciences /college of arts and music and other equally recognized higher education institution. The studies which you can do with a German student visa are either full-time university studies or preparatory measures before such studies.
  • the German student visa will allow you to remain in Germany for the initial 3 months. Within this initial period of 3 months, you’ll be required to apply for a ‘Residence Permit’ to study. The maximum period you’ll be receiving through such residence permit is 2 years. You can extend the residence permit depending on the length of your studies.
  • International students can work; however, they need to have very good local language skills and can work for up to 90 days each year, or 180 half days. International students may work in Germany for up 18 months after graduating, however, the job must be related to their field of study.
    Note: Students are allowed to bring their family members such as spouse and minor children.

Documents Required for Student Admission
  • Applicants Passport
  • Proof of language proficiency in Germany
  • TestDaF level IV. For having passed the TestDaF, Test of German as a Foreign Language for Foreign Students in all sections.
  • DSH Certificate II or III. For having passed the DSH test, the German Language Test for Admission of Foreign Student Applicants.
  • Assessment test at the end of institutional preparatory classes.
  • DSD Certificate of level II. Language diploma of the permanent conference of ministers for education and culture affairs, level II.
  • Goethe Certificate C2. For having passed the Goethe Test of level C2.
  • Telc Deutch C1 or B2 Hochschule Certificate. For having passed the Telc C1 or B2 Hochschule tests.
  • Proof of language proficiency in English
  • Official Score Report of TOEFL Test. The required scores: IbT-88, Pbt-66.
  • Official Score Report of IELTS Test. Sent directly or to you by the British Council. The required group score in the IELTS Academic must be 6.5+.
  • Cambridge Advanced English Certificate A, B, or C. Together with Cambridge Proficiency English Certificate A, B, or C.
  • Alternative forms are exceptionally accepted.
  • Letters of recommendation (minimum two)/ Two academic references
  • Letter of motivation/ Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Documents stating work experience (if applicable)
  • Course specific questionnaire (Some of courses/universities/Instructions)
  • Test AS certificate
  • Translations of certificates
  • CV
  • Passport Size Photos
Documents Required for Student Visa
  • Valid Passport/Birth certificate
  • Duly filled out and signed national visa application form
  • Two recently taken biometric portrait photographs (format: When taking the photo for a visa to make sure that your face takes 70 to 80 percent of the whole photo. This corresponds to a height of 32 – 36mm. If your face measures less than 27mm or more than 40mm on the photo than it will be rejected)
  • Financial Resources:
  • Bank Statements/ Personal financial statements of the last three months/ Scholarship award certificate/ Fixed deposit statement/A letter of commitment in case of sponsored by any organizations/ A letter of declaration from parents
  • Funds required for each student 8,640 euros per year for maintenance
  • University admission letter/ an official letter of reservation of a place in a study program/ a confirmation of application/ a certificate of the university or the preparatory courses provider
  • Academic records or transcript
  • proof of accommodation for the entire period of stay
  • Medical insurance is compulsory
  • Police clearance certificate (where it required)
